Mataga Health Centre Zimbabwe opens to patients

The official opening of Mataga Health Centre concludes the first phase of development under the $210 million Zimbabwe Healthcare Facilities Programme to design, construct and equip up to 30 x 22-bed health centres and five 60-bed district hospitals across the country.

The first four health centres have been completed at Stroneridge, Harare; Cowdray Park, Bulawayo; Runyararo, Chimanimani, Manicaland Provice; and Mutaga in Mberengwa, Midlands, concluding the first phase. 

The second phase, which involves the construction of a further four health centres is underway at Manhize, Chivhu, Mashonaland, East Province; Rudhanda, Zaka and Paradza, Chivi South in Masvingo; and Lady Stanley, Bulilima, Matabeleleland South.

This programme forms the nucleus of the Government’s accelerated efforts to improve the national healthcare system and is on track to positively impact healthcare outcomes thereby transforming the communities in which they are located.
